Rendezvous point for [[Morgan]], [[Bill Whelan]] and I in Berlin. I had a glass of To Øl Goliat Imperial Coffee Stout, from Copenhagen, which was as complex a taste as I’ve ever had in a beer.
Supper with [[Morgan]], [[Til]] and [[Bill Whelan]]. Morgan ordered, and excellent food just kept coming. Recommended.

A tiny, perfect store for magazines and (often forgotten, but well-curated) books. I seldom leave without spending $75. A must-visit on every trip to Berlin.

My first “nitro coffee,” with [[Igor]]: warm-brewed coffee that’s then chilled and then infused with nitrogen when dispensed. Like Guinness + coffee. In the courtyard to the left.

My favourite stationery shop, anywhere. See also Why Moritzplatz is the Best Place to Stay in Berlin. Plan to stay for at least an hour.

A neighbourhood copy shop with very helpful staff (there were all sorts of people getting all sorts of help with printing things when I was there). They have an excellent bilingual website. I used them for their very inexpensive (and well-explained) laminating service: they laminated a business card for me for 30 cents.

I first visited this vegetarian burger joint in 2010 with [[Oliver]]; we were joined by Don Stewart and his son Sam and by Matthew Richard, who were all in Berlin by coincidence. I returned on a solo trip in 2016 when I was staying nearby. Staff are friendly, vibe is nice, and they do a creditable job of turning out burgers without using meat.

Outside of El Paso, my favourite place for Mexican food. Three tacos (fish if they’re serving, chicken otherwise) and beer are a divine meal. My friend [[Morgan]] turned me on to the place, and he and I have been back several times together. Eat outside on the street if you can (it gets hot inside!).

Appears on all the coffee shop lists of all my Berlin coffee-loving friends. It’s a little out of the way (but only a little) in a leafy neighbourhood. The coffee is very good, and the space is pleasant. There’s a hearty collection of coffee and design magazines on the front windowsill.
