In the UK it’s called a hash.
In the UK it’s called a hash. I get a lot of funny looks when I set up conference calls here - ‘press the 6 hash to mute your line’…

Some in Sweden call it brädgård instead of fyrkant (square), but all systems using DTMF in Sweden says “fyrkant” in the instructions.

I just remembered that automated phone answerers here call it “the pound sign.” I had no idea what they meant for the longest time.
