How Deep is Your Flow?

Peter Rukavina

My friend Oliver asked me if I could write something about the traffic here during the DNC. I just did an analog run and here are the highlights of the report, which covers traffic from 10:00 p.m. Saturday night until 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday), a period of roughly 69 hours:

Also of interest is that this photo of Barack Obama has been viewed about 10 times more than any other in the photo gallery. Obama is speaking at the convention at 9:27 p.m. tonight, by the way (not that it’s strictly scheduled here or anything…).

So how do these numbers compare to what you clocked on average before becoming a convention blogger? How about in terms of Google ad revenue?(which arguably ought to figure into what covering the convention cost you)

Google’s Terms and Conditions for the AdSense program specifically class as confidential any information about “click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google.” So I can’t comment on that.

In terms of the local traffic analysis: I don’t have good numbers for the “time before” because I modified the report format, and erased the old logfiles, during a recent server upgrade. Looking at the week of the DNS compared to the week after the DNC, traffic is down by about 10%.
