Danger Bay, The Next Generation

Peter Rukavina
I’m happy to announce that my brother Mike has been offered the part of Dr. Grant ‘Doc’ Roberts Jr. in a new CBC Television series, Danger Bay: The Next Generation.

The new series picks up where the original Danger Bay left off: Doc Roberts Sr. is killed in a horrible whale accident and his long-lost son, Doc. Jr., returns from the Amazon rainforest to continue his work on behalf of the biologically underrepresented.

Mike will be joined on screen by original cast members Ocean Hellman, (recently seen with Morgan Freeman in Along Came a Spider) and Susan Walden (see in the recent movie of the week Taking Back My Life: The Nancy Ziegenmeyer Story).

Filming starts off the coast of Nanaimo, BC in May.  Pictured above right is a publicity shot of Mike, high over the rockies, taken during his audition.

There is (really!) a new version of the Beachcombers in development as we speak. Sigh.

By the way, if readers are intrigued by the chiselled goods looks and obvious hearty joie to vivre of said brother Mike, I can be contracted to broker possible dates.

He’s been a “star” for only a few minutes and he’s already being sold! Congrats to both of you.

You secrect guy you… I never knew you had an actor in the family, is this a standard Rukavina-picks-up-a-new-incredibly-difficult-skill-overnight type of thing, or has he been at this stuff a while? Is he one of the twins (built in understudy / double)?

Am I mistaken, or do some people actually believe Pete’s crock of shit story about Danger Bay?

I’m thrilled to report that I, too, have been invited to co-star in the new “Danger Bay” series. I’ll be playing Gary, the stranded sperm whale. The dialogue isn’t great but you should see my trailer.

I apparently missed the ending, because I didn’t know the good Doctor had died. Might have to look for repeats of it to see what happened. So, of great Canadian shows when I was growing up, Degrassi and now Danger Bay has gone the Next Gen route. Is it not possible for Canadian writers to come up with unique, new and exciting shows? Admittedly, though, US writers have been known to do worst. I mean how many shows came out of 90210? Like 5 or 6?

Argh, definition of gullible = Lana. But you can’t blame me for being fooled, I’m sure the CBC has done odder things than rehash old shows… Adrienne Clarkson Presents seems like a good example.

Just had to add a post about Degrassi — my little sis and I (we both live in the States) got this program on a local public television station. We really loved it. I’m sorry to report that even to this day we make fun of their accents, e.g., “Hey Sis, did you hear aboot Spike? She’s having a bebbe.” And yes, 90210 and it’s spinoffs were terrible - but terrible in the way of a tasty bag of cheese curls.

I swallowed that line so completely it will take weeks to dislodge the hook from my liver! Pete, irony is not your normal style but you do it so well I find myself inspired which shows up as article 175 on my blog.

Danger Bay, is playing on Dejaview, on Digital cable in Nova Scotia. I watch it every night. They play it 3 times a day I believe the same episode.

I truly hope that the rumour is true. Danger Bay was an awsome show and needs to come back. If so they MUST have Ocean Helman back! I have had a crush on her since the first time watching. I still watch reruns on PRIME. A godess if there ever was one. I’ll keep my hopes up.

speaking of old Canadian TV shows does anyone know where I can find episodes of “Ready or Not”, you know the one with Busy + Amanda? My GF was/is a fan but now its no longer on the air where we are (Ottawa). If someone knows where I can get it on DVD or VHS please e-mail me. Thanx:) jlsheedy@gmail.com
