The Other Ted

Peter Rukavina

Ted T-Shirt There’s TED, the conference. And now there’s Ted, the airline.

The airline is United’s low-cost answer to Delta’a low-cost Song.

The name, apparently comes from United.

This effectively prevents me from starting a low-cost version of Reinvented. Unless I come up with another name. Perhaps Rein. Or Ven.

How ‘bout “Vent” — a place where you can vent1your opinions?? reinVENTed.
1A means of escape or release from confinement; an outlet: give vent to one’s anger.

If that’s the derivation, they should have spelled it “…ted”. Anyway, I don’t think truncation was wise marketing. It makes me think “Does the plane fuselage lack a nose? Or pilots? Will the cabin have seats? Do I get to arrive as well as depart?”
