Treo 600 Photos

Here’s an amazing demonstration of the camera in the new Treo 600 thingy, which is a PalmPilot, a phone, and a camera.

Buzz brought his to Zap and we all got to fondle it.

The photos — obviously taken by a good photographer, which admitedly makes them look better — are amazing given that they were taken by a telephone.

This device might be the killer combination for me. Alas, it’s available only in America right now.

By the way, apparently, if I’m to use Steven as a guide, you pronounce the name of this phone Trey-oh. I say Tree-oh. I’m so outside the curve.

I am with you on that Peter. Getting a camera phone is something I have been looking forward to for at least a year now. It is amazing that Camera Cellphones have outsold normal digital cameras and companies like Aliant have managed to completely ignore that entire market. Odd.

The last time I was talking to somebody at Aliant about their model offerings they said something like “I think we’ll be getting some camera phones for Christmas.” Aliant has never broken free of the traditional POTS way of thinking about handsets, where the actual handset is tangential and the network is “their product.” Go and look at their website: I challenge anyone to find the hidden place where they actually list their handset offerings. This is a problem of epic proportiions because it reflects their entire worldview; they will never recover.
