Buzz left me a cryptic phone message earlier in the week in which he referred to “that other deal.” I had no idea what he was talking about. Turns out that, like The Scottish Play, it’s now considered unhealthy to utter The Other Conference’s name.
Lest anyone forced to attend over there, or anyone else involved, take any offense, let me iterate something which I hope should be obvious: my good-natured razzling of those trapped in the suburban hell of West Royalty listening to speakers talk about demographic profile development and interactive jelly bean promotional tie-ins is all in good fun. I hope you’re all having a good time on the Island; really.

“that other conference” has a non-standard web site. fails to load in my browser. and i am not saying what i use but it ain’t no stinkin msie. so much for the other conference. they have “outed” themselves. they have missed the clue train.
Apparently only 6% of surfers were using something other than MSIE as of July this year, according to this link. What’s more, none of the MSIE alternatives, which a site might consider accomodating, represent more than 1% of potential visitors. So at this point I find it easy to imagine them asking themselves “Why bother?” Maybe these stats are old news to you programmer/designer types, but I was surprised when someone pointed me to them. The days seem to have grown awfully dark for the enemies of MSIE.
