Bush: ‘I feel great’ after fainting episode

From CNN: “I do not find any reason that this would happen again,” Tubb said. “He fainted due to a temporary decrease in heart rate brought on by swallowing a pretzel.”

And to think of all the “dough” the US is spending on bombs in Afghanistan…when it turns out another kind of “dough” can bring the most powerful man in the world to his knees.

From CNN:

Based on the fact that his dogs did not appear to have moved — “except they were looking at him funny” — Bush estimates he was unconscious for only a couple of seconds, Fleischer said.

I don’t understand how quotes like this get out to the press — are they trying to paint him as a Homer Simpson Everyman?

Was it Jimmy Carter who used to live in the house of some average American family on weekend a month — just to “keep it real”? It’s interesting how some people love this and others would rather the president be put on a pedistal.

Prediction for Letterman joke tonight:

The President passed out briefly yesterday after choking on a pretzel. You know those big pretzels, Paul? Well he was watching the football game and he choked on his pretzel. I would say that that’s the biggest thing that’s been choked on in the white house since…well…*Big Letterman smile*

I think this was Fidel Castro, finally responding to the exploding cigar with which the U.S. tried to kill him. Let the record now state that the pretzel is deadlier than the cigar—though obviously neither makes the perfect assassin’s tool. Personally I prefer a Ritz cracker hurled with deadly force.
