The Confederation Centre of the Arts is in the midst of a well-deserved renovation. The Confederation Centre Public Library has been spruced up. Spring has sprung, summer’s here, the trees are out, the landscaping is in full spleandour.
And this is the view from the plaza, sitting on a brand new bench, looking out over Victoria Row:
Couldn’t we muster a couple of hundred extras dollars for some design and construction work so that our garbage doesn’t look like it’s being stored in concrete coffins with poor typography.
Don’t get me started on the “No Skateboards Bikes Rollerblades” thing.

The garage containers inside
The garage containers inside the centre are very nicely designed! Although I felt uncofortable putting my trash in as they looked so nice.
If you had taken the photo in
If you had taken the photo in the other direction, then the garbage bins would fit nicely into the buildingscape that is the confederation centre block.
I could think of a lot better
I could think of a lot better uses for that kinda money. How bout mustering up a couple hundred dollars for the food bank or to help supply a low budget daycare center with extra sunscreen, or give to a battered woman’s shetler. I think we need to worry less about vanity issues like how a garbage can looks, and more about our local people and our communities basic needs first.
