There are 47 Surveillance Cameras in my Neighbourhood

Today Olivia and I combined a Truckin’ Roll ice cream sandwich run with a survey of the surveillance cameras in our neighbourhood.

We counted 47.

(That includes our Ring doorbell camera: glass houses.)

We didn’t have to walk far.

I mapped them all on OpenStreetMap.

Inspired by Surveillance under Surveillance (where, because it’s driven by OpenStreetMap, all 47 should shortly appear).

An Overpass Turbo map showing the locations of all 47 cameras in our neighbourhood.

They are all pretty useless since they are not monitored and often not even turned on. This may explain why so much criminal activity and hooliganism takes place down town.

The police cameras are not monitored, but they all record, and live feeds can be accessed by staff within a few seconds…It’s quite the setup.
