Borgen

In case you missed it, Borgen, the well-received Danish political drama, is now streaming on Netflix. Think The West Wing but with more political parties and more Denmark. Highly recommended.

I've watched the whole series twice already (before Netflix) in Danish with subtitles. It's very odd to try out the dubbing in the Netflix version...they all have the "wrong" voices and a surprising number have Scottish accents. Is that to convey regional differences in Danish?

I think it was brilliant! So many very distinct accents, Scottish, welsh, geordie, posh uk, Thames Valley, Yorkshire etc. They were in your face strong accents and IMO seemed to fit well, esp the Freedom Party pig farmer. Perhaps a bit stereotypical, but hey, well done!

You are the 2nd person to recommend this show.
I've been watching "Rita" on Netflix, also a Danish show and I love it.

Good political drama but odd accents on dubbing. One of the party leaders sounds and looks like one of the Hairy Bikers!

For the love of God, watch with subtitles not overdubbing!

The subtitles that I saw along with the dubbed version were very USA centric. They didn’t seem as genuine as the dubbed version though of course that couldn’t have been more uk- centric if it tried!

I am watching the dubbed version in English, something I don't normally do. I am enjoying Borgen very much. I am English and appreciate the English vernacular. Something is often lost when reading sub titles because they are often poorly written. For me, the dubbed version is preferable.
