The population of Prince Edward Island is, according to the government, 146,105. If Prince Edward Island was a country, thus, it would be the 188th largest country in the world, and 53 other countries would have smaller populations (source):

On Compass about 15 years ago I remember Roger interviewing a gentleman from the Isle of Man about life as a small island dependency. It seemed like a very sensible idea for PEI as well.
Ground invasion of Saint Pierre and Miquelon! Who’s with me!?
Nearly all of these islands are not full-fledged countries, but rather, self-governing polities associated with much larger and wealthier countries. Even nominally-independent states like Nauru or the Federated States of Micronesia are closely tied to patrons like Australia or the United States.
Saw this morning, enjoyed a good chuckle and thought of this article.

Wow, that surprises me. Just missed the cutoff for H-bomb testing, based on the relative ranking of the Marshalls.
