The Nashville Network

It used to be that TNN meant The Nashville Network, and was a cable channel that you were as likely to see programs highlighting Buck Owens as anything else. Twang. Now they have reinvented themselves as The National Network and starting today they are playing mosting 1970s sitcoms and dramas: Newhart, WKRP, Miami Vice, Taxi, The Wonder Years. On the weekends they plan all sorts of “man shows” with names like “Trucks” and “Car and Driver Television.” One wonders if they had to go to the CRTC on this?

a few years ago I watched several shows on TNN. One of my favorites was hosted by Charlie Chase and a very pretty ladie whose husband was the director or producer and his last name was Owen.If possible would you email her name and maybe tell me what business they are in now. Also, has Ralph Emery retired.Would really appreciate your help. Thanks

Her name was Lori Ann Crook… the show was Crook & Chase. Not sure what she’s up to these days. Heck, I just figured out that TNN was really gone.

Does anyone remember an old Television show on TNN called, “Wish You Were Here…?” hosted by Kenny and Donna Price ? It was an RV travel show from the late 70’s to early 80’s. I can’t find any info on the net about it or find out if it is available on VHS or if a retro tv channel is airing the re runs .

Vic & Linda,

I remember “Wish You Were Here,” but I couldn’t remember it’s name, which was how I stumbled across this thread. I’d love to get it on DVD.

Best.

It would be Crook & Chase shows. I used to never never miss a show. They were great hosts. Now who even cares to watch TNN, they certainly don’t have what Charlie and Lori did.

And Gary Chapman was a decent host too.

Who makes these decisions? Why don’t they ask the public’s opinions first????? Instead of leaving us with nothing.

I bought some old recorded home videos at a garage sale and one of them has some shows of “Wish You Were Here” by Kenny and Donna Price. It is an interesting show and very enjoyable. I was Googling this show when I found this site. Even though these shows are recorded in the 1980’s. I’ve bought several VHS tapes of someone recording shows back in the 80’s and the commercials can be as “entertaining” as the shows. Advertisements for then “new” video cameras bigger than a boom box are a hoot.

FYI: Kenny died almost 22 years ago. According to a Wikipedia article the following:

James Kenneth “Kenny” Price (May 27, 1931 — August 4, 1987) was an accomplished singer, songwriter, and actor.

[…]

Price died of heart failure in 1987, and is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, Kentucky.

I didn’t find anything on his wife yet as to whether or not she is still with us.

It’s great to see other people are buying home recorded videotapes of TV broadcasts at grarage sales! it’s been a hobby of mine for about 10 years now. I just bought one yesterday with an episode of “Wish You Were Here!” hosted by Pat & Shirley Boone. They travel to the Golden Isles of Georgia. Before it,there is a complete show of Country Kitchen, also on TNN. Florence Henderson’s guest is Charlie Daniels. After they cook, they duet on “Tennessee Waltz”. These shows were taped from TNN in July 1988 with commercials. I love trading DVD copies of all kinds of recordings from TV,especially things recorded off TV in the 70s and early 80s. I collect sitcoms, newscasts, soaps, talk shows, game shows, you name it. You can email me at tvvideotrader@aol.com

I was just thinking about the show Wish You Were Here. My neighbors are on a 10 week RVing vacation and it came to mind. I really miss that show and was looking for episodes that might have been made available online, can’t find any but it was good to run into this site. I believe Pat and Shirley Boone were the original hosts and Kenny and Donna Price took over from there. I wasn’t that old back then I just remembered my parents watching that show every Saturday. So I may have my hosts mixed up but all and all it would be neat to see that show come back for the reruns. Great classic, would be nice to find some episodes though somewhere.
