Walking directions from my house to the [[Charlottetown Farmers’ Market]]: Cloudmap vs. Google.
Because Cloudmade uses OpenStreetMap data, the Confederation Trail is there, so I get routed along a pleasant route rather than up University Avenue.
See also Cloudmade’s routing web service.
Tangent: it’s been over a year since I submitted a request to have the spelling of Rochford Square as Rockford Square corrected by Tele Atlas, which supplies map data to Google for Charlottetown. Still wrong.

I like seeing the pathways on
I like seeing the pathways on the map but the logic is not there for fully transitioning between sidewalk and path. In my community near the Bow River Pathway system it won’t let me off the nearest bridge directly onto the pathway, it appears to follow the road traffic logic and so it redirects me 3km out of my way to another pedestrian bridge to make a 500m jaunt across the river. I suppose its better than Google which sends me down an offramp.
I have asked the Prov to
I have asked the Prov to change the spelling of MacLaughlan Highlands (incorrect!) to MacLauchlan Highlands………still waiting on that as well….at least a couple of years now.
Andrew, I suspect the issue
Andrew, I suspect the issue may be as simple as there not being a connection between the path and the bridge. The good news is that you can edit this yourself at Openstreetmap.org and fix it.
Do you know google didn’t
Do you know google didn’t consider the path? Google says its path would save you 200m and 3 mins.
