Hmm.. this must not be specified in the Charlottetown Bylaw. If you own a Porche, you’re exempt. Also applies to fire zones, too.

Tom Paine or Ben Franklin or some old school democrat would tell you that its incumbent upon the citizenry to to question the validity of the particular law. So the question here is: What is the point of the numerous “no parking” spaces around town? Loading zones are for loading, residential spaces are for nearby residents, wheelchair accesible are for people with physical disablity, etc…. In this case? I see no practical reason for not parking there. I have parked in that very spot myself (I’m glad my car is a little more non-descript!) having asked myself what the point of designating it “no parking” is. Has anarchy ensued as a result? There are many spots where we parking revolutionaries rebel, answering the question of “Can you fight City Hall?”

A final note for those who haven’t yet tested the waters of parking rebellion but may want to dabble risk free: at 6:52 pm, all the meter maids have gone home for the night. No tickets for not feeding the meter or parking in a no parking zone or a loading zone! Let the anarchy ensue!

I believe that plate number begins with an ‘A’ and ends with an ‘M’.

On another humorous note. This same vehicle was parked at an expired meter today at 1pm.

I’m sure any accumulated parking tickets would be insignificant to the owner of this particular vehicle. :-)

That’s one of my favourite parking spots — let’s not draw too much attention to it lest “Wyatt Earp” of the Charlottetown Parking Patrol Brigade set up a lawn chair next to it and ruin it for those of us who see this “no parking” sign as an infringement (on the other hand, if the sign wasn’t there, it’d be occupied a lot more frequently).
