Site renovations

In dire need of procrastination activities today, I’ve made some renovations to this website.

First is the long-requested (at least by Steven) function to allow discussion of individual posts. The complements the guest book, which can remain a place to talk about issues of general interest.

Second is the link to the statistics about traffic to this site. I’ve been gathering these numbers all along, but have never linked to them. I couldn’t think of a reason not to.

I would appreciate comments on either new feature. Handily enough, there is now a mechanism in place to let you do this! Just click on the Discuss This link below.

I am obviously missing a profoundly important part of your site. Your stats report suggests that a significant portion of your traffic arrives having conducted a search for “sex” [“This report lists which queries people used in search engines to find the site”: Number 1: Sex (11)]. Please send the urls for this bit of the site to Messrs Willson & McLeod. Many of the other search terms are deeply intriguing and speak eloquently to just how interesting our world is.

A store! Peter, you’ll so see ruffians downtown sporting the good Hughes design!

However, I do scoff a the CafePress.com website since it stole the amazon.com shopping cart icon. Boo! Get your own icon.

This type of stealing must amount to an icon stealing crime wave!

By gum you’re right! Of course they did have the tricky wickedness to make the stolen icon face the other way! And perhaps Amazon.com patented the shopping cart icon and Cafepress.com is paying them a heft licensing fee.

Most of the web searches in our logs that contain the work sex seem to come from this AltaVista search [warning: naked people at this link]. The odd thing is that there actually hasn’t (oddly enough) been one use of the word “sex” on this site (until now), so that this search would lead people here means that something must be broken somewhere.
