Just before 9:00 a.m. this morning the power went out on Prince Edward Island from West Royalty all the way to East Point. The Maritime Electric trouble line reports that they haven’t located the source of the problem yet. Meanwhile things are humming along upstairs in the Data Centre, courtesy of generators at [[silverorange]] and [[ISN]].
Here’s an inside look at Data Centre in “emergency operations mode.” Note the coffee maker.
And here’s a shot of [[Nathan]]’s laptop, running off the generator, showing live video of an eagle in British Columbia streaming. I think he was just showing off ;-)

Power’s been on for almost 30 minutes, but it seems like the Government of PEI WAN is still offline.

It seems the power is coming online incrementally. It came on at my house on Gerald St. about an hour after it came on at our office. It’s apparently still out in some places.
I wonder if they bring the power back on incrementally to avoid a surge as all of our toasters and robots reboot at once, or something like that?

I drove up Queen St. out of town around 11:30 a.m., and the traffic lights at the corner of Queen and Kirkwood Drive were out; all other lights in the city were on though. Perhaps there’s a narrow punishment band of powerlessness.

Just showing off that he could see the eagles, most likely. So many people are trying right now that it’s often just a blank screen.
