Emergency Measures on PEI

Peter Rukavina

If you live on Prince Edward Island, you may want to drop by the Emergency Measures Organization website. If we’ve learned anything from Hurricane Katrina it’s that we’ve all got to take more responsibility for dealing with disasters. Can’t hurt to learn now, before disaster strikes, what the theoretical provincial response is.

I stand to be corrected here, but doesn’t the CBC have a statutory obligation to provide coverage during an emergency? I think, quite apart from any other programming they provide, this is what we pay for.

If there is actually a storm, I don’t understand why they would not be compelled by law to drop the nonsense and be in the air.
