The Island Hymn (Grand Piano)

Peter Rukavina
Audio file

Prince Edward Island’s patriotic song, by noted author L.M. Montgomery. From the 1973 sheet music of the song: “In the winter of 1906-07, at a banquet in Charlottetown, it was suggested the Lucy Maud Montgomery be requested to write a hymn or verse of poetry. This was done, and she consented. The first performance of the words, to the melody of God Save the King, took place on Arbor Day 1907 at the Charlottetown Public School.” This version was created by scanning the 1973 sheet music of the song, converting the sheet music scan to MIDI with SharpEye Music Scanner, and then loading the resulting MIDI file into GarageBand.
