Spark Alert

Peter Rukavina

Episode 120 of Spark, wherein I discuss the ins and outs of printing ebooks with Nora Young, has just hit the Internet. You can listen to it online right now. Or, if you prefer, on your radio on Sunday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m. Atlantic (times may vary in your time zone; check the schedule) on CBC Radio One.

If you’re really keen, you can listen to the entire uncut interview (the one with all the swearing and gratuitous violence left in).

I just heard it here in Burlington, VT! (Saturday at 1) Exciting to hear a familiar name/voice. Nice job.

I enjoyed the uncut Spark interview as well (actually I hardly ever listen to the actual show but rather all of the longer interviews). Interesting to hear in more detail the reasons the eReader didn’t work for you. It made me think back to 1999ish when I too was experiencing a sore wrist from excess mouse work. At one point it was so bad I switched to using my left hand for mouse work. It went away for three main reasons I think: proper office ergonomics, physical fitness (i do yoga a couple of times a week) and the docking station/laptop combo which makes my use more variable.

One point worth mentioning is that the eReaders have no back light and adjustable font size so are nicer on the eyes than a laptop screen or in some cases a book. Also no need to hold the book open makes reading in bed, while eating, etc. easier.
