Where in the world is Hermann Kleefisch?

Peter Rukavina

Hermann Kleefisch, from Alaska, Prince Edward Island, set off around the world in his VW microbus in July.

I spoke with Bob Likely at Sherwood Volkswagen this afternoon, and Bob didn’t know where Hermann was on his trip right now (he promised to let me know if he heard anything).

I’d like to hook Hermann up with my friend Steve when he drives through Thailand, as Steve did the round the world drive in the late 1960s.

Anybody know where Hermann’s at?

My guess is he’s somewhere off the coast of the Americas in a few feet of water. Those VW microbuses aren’t really built for transoceanic travel.

Herman is well and in his late 90s. He's re married and living happily near the border with Laos. This was correct as of Dec 14.

Hermann is my remarkable friend. We kept letter communication until 2007 when I was in a hurry of pushing my study in Cornell University and graduatting as early as possible, I lost his mail address after several relocations within the US and then in Beijing. I hope Hermann is still happy with his confidence that youth is not a stage in our life, as long as we are able to receive doses of beauty, hope, hapiness and courage, then we are young.

Sorry, Hermann, I modify your poem a lit bit without your permission. Best Regards!
