Pretty much anything built in Charlottetown since the Ellis Brothers Shopping Centre, or the Royalty Mall, is taken right out of Vulgaria, Ontario – ie. anything west of Kingston or Brockville, and even then there’s room for interpretation.

Developers and fans of tilt-up buildings should be proud of the awful architecture polluting this place. I blame foreign imports for this influence (ie. anyone “from the other side”)…

I heard an interesting interview with Moshe Safdie last week on As It Happens about his quitting the McGill Health Centre project - here is a link to the story about in the G&M - public/private partnerships may be a major contributing factor to that consistently uninspired formulaic building style we’ve seen on the Island and every Canadian city for the last couple of decades.
