Piracy can be a good thing, if I didn’t get a pirated copy of Photoshop I never would have bought it and had the chance to learn the software, which I am hooked on now. Another factor is I could never have earned the money using it to cover the expense of purchasing it, in Ontario the bigger market may have allowed me to earn it’s worth. In PEI we have a cashless society, hence more piracy. Or as we call it, borrowing.

Prince Edward Island had the highest rate of software piracy at 65.3 per cent, up from about 50 per cent in 2001.
