Jeremy Cherfas is in the Italian countryside, and has too many zucchini:
It is a pretty isolated spot, which means the old trick of driving into town with a basket of produce and depositing it on the back seat of anyone foolish enough to leave their car unlocked at the height of zucchini season will not work.
This recalls a time in the late 1980s when my roommates at 640 Reid Street and I, faced with a similar over abundance of zucchini, organized an all-zucchini meal (zucchini fritters, zucchini boats, zucchini cake, etc.).

Reminds me of an Erskine
Reminds me of an Erskine Smith story: he was walking to the theatre in Victoria one day when a tourist stopped him and asked if the tourist should lock his car. Erskine pondered, then replied, "yes, otherwise when you come back, it will be full of zucchinis."
Similar to the Erskine story.
Similar to the Erskine story.....my sister in law, who grew up in Crapaud but moved to the west coast early in life and returned home a decade ago, asked my wife where the best place to buy zucchinis was. I laughed and said, you don't buy zucchini, just ask enough people and someone will gladly give you some, or leave your car unlocked in a church parking lot. She looked at me like I was strange and the next day purchased zucchini. Two days later she informed my wife "Neil was right. I went to work and the table in the staff room was full of free zucchini"
