T@B Trailer

I saw one of these trailers at a dealership today. It was one of those “holy shit, look at that” moments. Wow.

we have a clamshell T@B and we camp with our 2 kids (girls). we modified the bench to a full bed. you have to weigh out the options of T@B vs TADA. we like the outdoor kitchen and we only sleep on the inside so it has worked well.We had a popup before and although there was more interior room, the weather protection was not there. we tow with a subaru and we have really enjoyed our purchase and we do not need the TADA. check out the yahoo site for other ideas.

Wow! I am madly in love with the clamshell & am disappointed to not see many used ones for sale in Florida. Is there a group here or any other resources I should know about? Thank you.

My husband and I have recently been introduced to the idea of the teardrop trailer. We have been looking at several manufacturers and believe the T@B will best suit our needs. My husband is 6’3” and the idea of being able to stand up in the T@B (althought not completely) is a real selling point. We live in Cincinnati, OH are and were wondering if there are any T@B owners in the area. We will be towing with a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible. Input (pro and con) would be appreciated from any T@B owners.

hi everyone!
i am living in the b.c. interior and am looking for a T@B trailer. can travel a bit to get one (and may have to as the nearest seller is 200 kil. away).
does anyone know of any used ones or a web site that advertises new/used T@B’s? also wondering about prices. i’ve seen everything from $9,000 to $18,000 and with the canadian dollar doing so much better what is the TRUE value of a T@B?
fell in love with them 3 years ago…..

How much are people paying for the T@DA’s? I am looking at one and have been offered a price of $21,700(US), and was wondering if that would be considered a fair deal. It has all the options. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi We are being transfered to Busan, South Korea for 2-3 years, so we are selling our 2007 T@B trailer. It was only used a few times last summer. It has the kitchen inside with the larger refrigerator, storage cover, tent room, screen door, A/C and a heater. It is silver with red trim and has flames and fireball. It also folds down to a queen size bed. We are selling it for 12,000$. We are from Bellingham, Washington. We leave for Korea June 22. so if it doesn’t go by then it will just head to storage. Feel free to email or call me at 360-202-7849 dragonflygirl@wavecable.com

I have an uber-upgraded Tab Clamshell that is fairly unique in that it is actually able to run on solar for extended periods of time without resorting to a generator or shore power. The large 110W panel and 260 amp hour battery bank allow for comfortable off grid living in a trailer small and light enough (just 1500lbs) that most vehicles can tow it.

I’ve never seen any other trailer that is simultaneously so small and so autonomous.

My Tab is for sale though — we are upgrading to a larger RV more suitable for two people travling full time.

For more details on my solar Tab, look here:

The iCamp is great, full size amenities but can be pulled by most 6 cyl. vehicles(EVEN SOME 4CYL.SUBARU FOR EXAMPLE). I’ve done the research most people are looking for 3 important things.
1. DURABILITY-Centech the founder of United Recreational Vehicles is new to America not the RV & small trailer business. They are the leading special vehicle manufacturer in Asia.
2. QUALITY-most the parts are American made, Centech buys the parts assembles the iCamp and then ships them back.( Thetford, Atwood, Duo-therm and Demetic for example.)
3. CONVIENENCE-IPOD connections, DVD/Entertainment Package, Full bathroom with separate water tanks(oh yes the toilet paper stays dry the container has a plastic cover. The curtain isolates the paper, sink and cabinets from the shower) Check it out on the web site email me back(dmantillaURV@AOL.COM)or call.

I have a 2004 tab with a 3163 norcold fridge. It does not cool properly on any mode. If taken out of the trailler it works fine. it has one small fan which is on a thermostat. Talked to other people who had this tab and fridge who also had same problem and had to have an extra fan and venting installed after which it worked fine. Wondering what other people have had done about this as it appears to be a very bad installation with the venting on the wrong side of the fridge. This must have been a common problem. Any ieas appreciated. Email me if you like at hnoakes@telus.net

This past spring we bought a new 2007 T16-Q. We bought it from a dealer in Iowa and paid a very reasonable price for it. Our “has-to-have” list included a front window, so the only reefer option for us was the 12v NorCold. Aside from the front window, reefer, A/C, aluminum wheels, furnace, NorthernBreeze and stereo system that the T@B had from the factory, I also added a Coby 10.2” digital (under counter) LCD TV/DVD and a Port-a-Potty.

We just got back from our first real holiday with it, about 4000 miles total. I can truely say that we’re happy with the T@B. We did experience some growing pains, though. Upon reaching the KOA on the 2nd evening, I found that the propane hose (tank to regulator) had become plugged. The following morning I stopped at Quality RV Service & Supply in Moab, UT and they had a new replacement hose.

We also found that the 12v NorCold refer is a battery hog, but it only became a problem when camping for long periods without hook-ups.

One thing that I REALLY liked was the ability to pull into a rest area, park, crawl into the T@B and catch 5-6 hours of sleep. This is something that cannot be done with a tent trailer or A-frame.

I have a 2004 T@B. I am on my second fridge, my third electrical inverter. The rubber gasket at the roof to sidewall joint just up and blew away one day. The plastic cowling that covers the propane/battery disintegrated one day when the steel frame holding such broke at the base allowing the plastic to vibrate in the wind. The little plastic knobs and levers on the windows and fridge just disintegrate periodically under normal use. I didn’t mind that various parts need replacement at first, but everytime that a part needed to be replaced it would take 2 to 3 months to ship to the dealer. This has been a consistent pattern since I bought the trailer.

I am currently waiting on a frame for the propane/battery cowling that was ordered in October. T@B have still made no commitment as to the delivery date. So my experience has been — great little trailer but poor durability on the interior cabinets plus absolutely terrible service when it comes to ordering parts for repair.

We got our T@B earlier this year and just returned from a 10-day trip through Washington and Oregon states. LOVE it! What surprised me was how many ‘big rig’ owners came by to take a look and say how they would actually prefer to have something smaller, easier to pull and less gas-guzzling than their gigantic RV’s. No kidding —- I can hardly feel the T@B behind my small SUV. Better yet, we were the only trailer that ventured up the old Columbia Gorge scenic highway on the day we were there. The road is very narrow with tight curves and the T@B handled it like a dream.

Cheers,
Ros

T@B clam shell. Thought it was the greatest camper ever UNTIL the seals in the kitchen fell apart and water started pouring in and the front side seams are separating so just enough water seeps in to create moisture where it is not wanted.. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you resolve it? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. The quality is much higher that to be having these issues and to my surprise the warranty’s on most campers/RV’s is only 12 months.

BTW for information sake…..RV manufactures do not include the lug wrenches nor jacks. So be prepared for the worse. I did find out that with the upgraded AAA membership my camper was included. Flat tires are not much fun when you don’t travel with a tool box or find yourself on the side of the road after driving over something sharp.

On the up side. Loved it ( until the water intrusion issues) the size is perfect for this single mom & kids or me and a friend/or the dogs.

It is easy to hook up the my Mid Sized SUV and can be pushed around by hand. Stores enough stuff for a long camping trip but keeps you from overdoing it on owning too many extra and un-necessaries. Remember less is more.

The bed in comfortable. Definitely is the draw of the camp site. Everyone wants to see it….great conversation starter. Looks really small next to a 5th Wheel with 3 push outs ( but how is that camping?)

We’ve had our T@B now for three years and absolutely love it! We added an AC below one of the cabinets and out of the way! Our dealer did this for us professionally and it looks and works great! Price $150.00 for AC!! We love the towing ease, the mobility of moving it around by hand easily once in a camping spot, the storage, queen size bed and all the other anemities. We use a porta potty when facilities are not available. Most times we also put up a screen tent and consider that our extra outdoor room for visiting with others, relaxing in a bug free atmosphere, etc. the screen tent addition adds a totally new demension for space. We have towed the T@B throughout the Rocky Mts. and from one coast to the other and just love it! I can’t tell you how many times strangers will ask to see inside and are always amazed at the space and inside anemities! We did store the main table in basement and replaced it with a small folding table, thus providing us more space around the couch area. For setting up the bed then we just used two cut to size pieces of plywood which during the day we store under the couch. Thus, this provides even more room inside!

Previously we have owned tent campers, fifth wheels, trailers and this little T@B fits right into everything we do now when traveling especially considering the cost of fuel, etc. We downsized the vehicle for better mileage and cost savings and we have no problems whatsoever towing this camper! Probably our best decision for traveling and camping we ever made!! We also enjoy knowing the T@B is completley enclosed yet allows for ventilation with the screened windows and power ceiling fan. For us the T@B is a real gem!!
