She's Worked the Night Shift Too

Peter Rukavina

This new Clinton ad is simply crass. Say what you will about Obama, but it’s hard not to watch an ad like this and come away unmoved. Clinton wants us to believe she’s fresh off an overnight at Dunkin Donuts, Obama wants to change the world. Neither may be actually true, I’ll take sketchy hope over pretense any day.

I’ve always admired Hillary Clinton since Bill had zipper problems. I thought she showed a lot of dignity throughout it all. Her ambition-for-ambition’s-sake shows through more than she thinks but by itself that doesn’t make a bad person. The closest condemnation of her was the Whitewater affair but Whitewater was less fact and more the construct of overactive Republican-zealot imagination. And, I like Obama for daring to inspire (I used to think all leaders of nations should do likewise but I’ve since matured beyond that), and I see that Hillary’s campaign is loosing ‘umph’, but what was this about her “lending five million dollars to [her own] campaign”? What am I missing here… where does a lawyer who takes a cut in pay to become a state Senator, come up with $5M to lend herself? Indeed. What kind of law was she practicing, and did she actually make money on Whitewater?
