Although many consider the Red Oak to be the tree on the Provincial Coat-of-Arms (adopted in 1905), this has never been formally recognized. The acorns visible on the largest tree appear to be those of white, rather than red oak.

I dispute that its even a tree at all. Ava insists that the trees on the Island flag are “broccoli” and refers the the Island flag as the “brocolli flag”. I’ll be sticking with that until I hear a more compelling argument to the contrary.
I didn’t realize that brocolli where indigenous to P.E.I. :)
My experience is that they are even challenging to grow on the island.
