Pre-Overdue Notices from the Library

Peter Rukavina

The PEI Provincial Library has started to email out “pre-overdue” notices, 4 days before an item is due back. This is very useful. Thank-you.

I wonder how much it costs them to do this. They will probably lose revenues from overdue fines. Maybe not such a good idea. I like the idea of fines….kind of like a user tax.

The main goal for the new policy was to get library books back, not generate lots of revenue. The pre-overdue notice doesn’t cost anything, just another email sent out automatically by our library software.
