New Fast

I spent some time in the middle of last night doing some spring cleaning here at the website (not much more time to do spring cleaning, after all). Probably most noticeable is that the whole operation should now seem much peppier, as I indexed some database tables that should have been indexed years ago, and cleaned up the design of the site under the hood. This clean-up may result in total chaos for users of Netscape 4.x. Please let me know of any other irregularities you notice.

I noticed the fonts were tweaked as well. Much easier to read. Thanks.

Just de-lurking for a moment. In Netscape 6.2, it looks like the page has lost its “columns” (i.e. everything vertical). Love the your site! Recloaking!

What do you feel about justification? Not of yourself or your posts, mind you, just squaring the right side of the text. I am myself betwixt and between, justifying the articles but not the posts.

I am staunchy against justification, although supremely in awe of how it was practised when it all had to be done by hand.

I make my distinction based on the conversationality of the posting and the publication of the articles. It may be wacky but, especially when using lots of legal quotes, etc, justification helps clarify the image of the text.

Actually Netscape 4.7 was giving me problems here since the previous tweaking until recently (text in each thread was superimposed by other threads’ text). So I’d been using to 3.0 here instead.

It’s sort of hard to take opposition to justification seriously, since you can assume those opposed won’t be willing to justify themselves.
