Hauling away the snow

Peter Rukavina

Here’s Prince Street in front of our house last night around 10:00 p.m.:

Before Snow Removal

Here’s how all that snow gets cleared away:

And here’s Prince Street twelve hours later, after the snow has been removed:

After Snow Removal

The video seems to show a bulldozer depositing snow in the street and leaving, not clearing snow. I guess it’s showing the clearing of cross streets to Prince St, and clearing Prince itself came last. Anyway, that’s a mess of snow. I think Madison’s accumulation was higher, but I’ll have to wait until next time to back that up with video.

What the video did not show was the truck-sized snowblower and a stream of dump trucks picking up the furrow from the middle of the street.
