Even Danes think this is insane - at more normal rates the classic joke is that unlike in the US (and CA as far as I can recall) Denmark is a country where beer and gasoline costs about the same.

The price of gasoline in Charlottetown (Canada) was $1.40 CAD when I left on Monday, which translates to 6.613 DKK. This is the highest the price has ever been.

I’m not a regular beer drinker, but I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a beer in Charlottetown for $1.40.
