Crane Over Charlottetown

Peter Rukavina

I came into the office this morning and found, to my surprise, that in the night a crane had arisen over the city. Charlottetown doesn’t get many Big Construction Projects, so this is a big event.

You can monitor the construction of this new Government of Canada building from their webcam at:

We Dominion Building workers are looking forward to moving in by May 2007. I hear this modern wonder will even have air conditioning!

The image of the crane in the pit reminded me of Anne Troake’s film “Pretty Big Dig”. It had 3 pieces of heavy machinery, merrily dancing around a construction site! Wonder what it would take to choreograph 3 of those cranes?

Ya! Derek, the Dominion building is a very uncomfortable place on a hot day. I remember it well especially on days when the temperatures reach 30
