craigslist comes to pei

Peter Rukavina

At long last we have our very own craigslist for Prince Edward Island.

To the uninitiated craigslist can appear confusing; I can tell you from personal experience that it’s worth wading through: we found our rental houses in France, Portugal and Denmark all through the site, and they were good experiences all.

Right now the craigslist pei site isn’t exactly filled to the brim with amazing listings — indeed because it’s so new it’s mostly spam-like postings or paid “small biz ads.” Take a look at craigslist san francisco to get a sense of what the site can be when it’s humming along.

Congratulations, PEI! I’m currently searching for a place to live here in Toronto, and Craigslist is a godsend. I especially like its ability to serve up RSS feeds based on my searches, so I’m immediately notified when a new one bedroom under a certain price is posted.

I remember how excited, then disappointed, I was when Halifax got its own Craigslist. It’s a shame when something so great goes unused.

Sophie and I nicel furnished half of our apartment for free by responding to one Craigslisting. It probably helps to live near rich liberals. Like scavenging in Manhattan I suppose. What do they call it? Mongo?
