The other takeaway from Matthew’s talk was people tend to “report” stories rather than tell them. So they report what happened and what was said, but they leave out what they a) thought, and b) felt. Add those two in and you’re doing better than most.
If there’s single thing I think I could do to improve my own writing it would be that.
