The same comments are true of CKUA radio in Alberta vs. CBC radio. CKUA used to be government funded until the mid-90s when Ralph Klein cut funding. Since then it has relied on listener support. It is of different scope than CBC in terms of news reporting (it actually buys CBC news feeds) but it is in my opinion better for independent music Canadian and otherwise than even CBC Radio 3 which I also quite like.
