oh my...what a beautiful and poignant piece of writing by John Matthias.
Then, while reading it, suddenly there appeared the New Yorker video of 'Surviving the Lynching' which was heart wrenching. That glorious leather artistry of Winfred was SO complex, and masterful! The power of his message rising above the pain.
I have never seen anything about that horrible period of American history with such a profound impact. I am blown away.

These two very different, but extremely emotional pieces appearing together, by strange misfortune, was indeed overwhelming!
