Monster Chiller Horror Theatre

Count Imagine a horror movie in which a reclusive computer programmer is trapped in the back room of an old Victorian house while a dozen disembodied ghouls are trying to scratch their way into the house so as to be able to eat his brain for lunch.

As there are a dozen workers scraping down the outside of 84 Fitzroy St. today, in anticipation of a paint job, while we work inside, this is pretty much what the today feels at the office.

Well, maybe not lunch … perhaps a light snack …?

MAKE IT STOP! I just walked by 84 Fitzroy St. and the noise was unbearable. The sound of paint scrapers is like nails on a chalkboard to me. The hairs on my arms were standing on end. I can still hear it…. Ayyeeee!

As it happens, we have some roofers making noise on our roof as well, so I empathise. Unfortunately, because our workers are Hungarians they get up at four and start work at six. Actually, come to think of it, I also live in the land of ghouls or at least the land of vampire accents. Bela Lugosi himself was born only a few hundred miles from here. Do you think I too should be afeared? Or are the pickings here too slim?

Sounds just like the drum beat intro to “Monster Mash” Play the MP3 while you say “I was working in the lab…late, one night…when my eyes…beheld…an eerie sight” and you’ll hear what I mean. Helps if you can channel Bela Lugosi, but I’m sure it’s not essential. Amazon has a snippet from a little farther along (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi…

Chinese, Spanish, and Texan Drawl are constantly being spoken in the cubicles within earshot here at Nortel’s Richardson office. I put in my earbuds, and crank Belle & Sebastian. Takes me to a sonic place I can call my own.

That’s good so long as they don’t start to enforce testing for Belle & Sebastion.
