By the close Monday, the S&P/TSX composite index was down 572.92 points, or 5.3 per cent, to 10,230.43. It had been down as much as 1,180 points or almost 11 per cent.

The world financial system is entirely a human creation — it’s a game we choose to play to manage greed. If the game fails, or resets, from time to time, it may affect lives, but in a way that, as individuals, we have very little control over. So what’s the point in paying attention or caring about it.
