Garnet Rogers at Trailside Cafe

If you have any sense at all, you will immediately telephone the Trailside Cafe in Mount Stewart, PEI and reserve your tickets for their Garnet Rogers shows on either October 7 or 8, 2007. Garnet is one of the world’s preeminent singer-songwriters, and his live show is not to be missed. To see him in a unique, small setting like the Trailside makes it all the more special. So in agreement with you Peter. I booked Garnet for some shows in B.C. and he never failed to deliver an amazing, stirring performance.

His rendition of “Northwest Passage” made my heart stand still- wow!

Thanks Peter! I have been waiting for Garnet to make another east coast sojourn. He’s far and away the best solo artist I have ever seen live. It would be a crime if there are any empty seats.

I notice they had Alfie Zappacosta just over a week ago. He has mellowed nicely with age and is also amazing live — especially in a small venue. I read the Trailside’s ‘About’ page but it doesn’t explain how they’re booking such great acts.

Doug Deacon provides an amazing experience for everyone who plays at the Trailside — I think that’s his secret to booking great acts — ask him about it — if you know what most performers have to put up with it’ll amaze you.

Some performers will voluntarily adjust their normal fee just so that they can go to the Trailside and have what amounts to a vacation. Since they’re well treated and relaxed it all adds up to absolutely breathtaking performances. One wouldn’t be far off assuming that he is putting on the very very best entertainment product, at the very lowest prices anywhere. It really all comes together like magic. He should get that ‘venue of the year’ award (or whatever) from the ECMAs — even with the small population of PEI, and his small room, it would seem that the artists who love to go there might be able to help — a word here, a word there…

Zappacosts, Rogers, Smith & Antoniak, the list goes on… I don’t think the Confederation Centre does better than Doug, and they certainly don’t do it for less money either in ‘meat’ or ticket prices.

I couldn’t say it better than Kevin did. Musicians love playing at the trailside and Doug treats his musicians and guests very well indeed I have had some amazing experiences listening to Gordie Sampson and many others there including seeing Rose Cousins play with Jill Barber there a couple of years ago and it was the first time I saw them play live and it was magical. The food is also great!
Garnet is an amazing performer. Also Rob Lutes a blues player from Montreal is playing the Trailside on Saturday, September 8th and he is not to be missed.

My husband and I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario ( a 21 hour drive north of Toronto) and will be visiting your fair island again from July 15 to July 22/08. We would love to visit your dining room and see our dear friend, Alfie Zappacosta, perform while we are there! No entertainer can touch Alfie’s voice, charisma and showmanship…but then you already know that! Do you think you could convince Alfie it’s time to come back to Trailside during our stay? If you start the ball rolling, I’ll work on him for you…LOL! Thanks!!
