Seems a shame to replace such a lovely building with what looks like a cannery — but that’s how it goes.

I went to Prince Street School 1955-1961. Many fond memories. The top floow was an assembly hall. There were I believe 16 large class rooms with cloak rooms. I recall the cloak rooms as I spent some down time in them. Miss Mable Matheson was principal. Miss Mac Kenzie was the music teacher, later replaced by Mr. Thompson. Teachers I recall. Miss Alice Frazer, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs Duvar. Large playground where we all spent many summer days playing. Nice to see the old school again. I can recall it being very cold in those school rooms in the winter time. I believe we moved into the new school in grade 5 which was in 1960. I may well be wrong

La classe de Mme Parsons ont ecouté la histoire de l’école Prince Street. I gave the class a snapshot of my old school’s history between 1967-1971. Great memories! One student said I liked looking at the old Prince Street School, but I prefer the new school. Bravo l’école Prince Street.
